It's a beautiful day to be a woman....

Ok..... I woke up this morning with serious menstral cramps and before this morning, I have had some huge and quite annoying pimples in their multiples, might I add, on my face and chest area...... And guess what? My period still hasn't come it's a few days away! Oh! and might I add my breasts feel really sore and my tummy has felt bloated for about 3 days.

That being said....as aware as I am at the moment, of the difficulty of being a woman, I can't but say it is still a beautiful day to be a woman!

Let me tell you why.

Just as I stood, contemplating my life's woes, my 8 year old daughter comes into my room and says "Mummy, do you still need a massage"?! She looks at me for a few seconds and says "thank you for breakfast mum". I smile and say, "you are welcome baby!" As she leaves to get her stuff for school, my 3 year old daughter rushes in, hugs my legs from behind and says "mummy I love you!"

....these were the sweet sweet words I heard this morning that needed no prompting and guess what? only because I am a woman can I be called the sweetest name, Mummy!

So I dare say....despite the soreness and heaviness and pain, being a woman ROCKS!

Shake it to Sell it?....

This  morning, I woke up with the need to voice out something.
For a while I have been quiet because I was scared of what the thing I say, would cost me. Then I remembered that, as a woman, anything I say would cost me in one way or the other. So I better talk if I want to or be quiet if I am scared of the consequences.

So, I will first vent about music videos, yes! Music videos. The way women are projected in them. In most, all the women do is shake, shake, shake and shake!!!!!! These girls are objectified and portrayed as objects of sexual gratification.

Some may say they are dancers...Please! what kind dance, can't be done in cloths? The musicians, are fully dressed, sometimes even wearing a shirt,a jacket and chains.

I am not saying that featuring women if music videos is wrong, oh! No. I love the drama in videos, especially when when beautiful girls dramatise the song. In fact I look forward to a video, once I love a song...I am eager to see how the musician and whatever video director he chooses, will interpret the song and make it come to life visually. But what I do not support is women going naked in the videos...and to think some music video directors have been heard saying 'if it ain't shaking, it ain't selling' ...SMH

Enough venting for today, till next time.

Yours sincerely

Madiva Concepts Presents: The New Woman Radio Show

Madiva Concepts is a content development and management company in Enugu, Nigeria and is set to launch it’s first syndicated radio show; The New Woman Radio Show. Asides the strong passion of the creative director of Madiva Concepts to see a change in the way women think, act and relate, the Spoken Word piece, titled “spoken word of a Feminist” Written and recited by Racheal Ofori, is probably one of the key inspirations for The New Woman Radio show – TNR

The New woman refers to the woman who is tired of being pushed, used and abused; she is soft but strong and knows that her body is her prerogative. TNR is a radio talk show for women, that has been created to help women know the new woman, appreciate the new woman and learn how to become the new woman. It is the first syndicated radio talk show for women in South Eastern Nigeria.

The show discusses issues confronting women, the things women are and should be concerned about and clarifies some myths and tales about women. Conversations will cover areas of religion, fashion, beauty, lifestyle, finance, relationships, health and more. The conversations on TNR are real, candid and relatable to every Nigerian woman. Some of the conversations will begin with a letter to Wase. Wase, in Tiv language means ‘Woman” and so, in essence, this letter is to every woman.

TNR is hosted by the award winning OAP and unarguably, the skilled and most visible OAP in South Eastern Nigeria, Tobe Nneji (known better as TobeDaDiva) and co-hosted by the actress, media consultant and writer, Elsie Eluwa. The show also features one of Tobe’s protégées, Nkeiruka Nwobodo on Letters to Wase.

The show is produced in Enugu and will kick off in the 3rd week of June, airing on 2 stations in Enugu. It premieres on Saturday, 20th June on Solid FM 100.9 Enugu at 8.15pm and on Sunday 21st June on Dream FM 92.5 Enugu at 8.30pm.
